Cyanoacrylate, also called super glue, fuming is a chemical method for the detection of latent fingermarks on non- porous surfaces such as glass, plastic etc. The method relies on the deposition of polymerized cyanoacrylate ester
Cyanoacrylate fuming (often called the super glue method) is a chemical method for the detection of latent fingermarks. These fumes will react with the traces of amino acids, fatty acids and proteins in the latent fingerprint and the moisture in the air to produce a visible, sticky white material that forms along the ridges of the fingerprint.
It provides a controlled environment for the processing of latent fingerprints on most non-porous surfaces while eliminating personnel exposure to hazardous cyanoacrylate fumes. This fuming chamber is designed to process the evidence by using the Cyanoacrylate Fuming Method. The unit will provide an environment that is controlled for developing latent fingerprints. This unit incorporates two heating elements that can operate individually or together. These heating elements will operate with a maximum temperature of 230 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cyanoacrylate fuming is a chemical technique. Latent fingerprints are composed of several chemicals exuded through the pores in the fingertips and are left on virtually every object touched. The primary component of latent fingerprints is ordinary sweat. Sweat is Cyanoacrylate fuming (often called the super glue method) is a chemical method for the detection of latent fingermarks.

The method relies on the deposition of polymerized cyanoacrylate ester Cyanoacrylate fuming is a widely used forensic tool for the development of latent fingerprints, however the mechanistic details of the reaction between the fingerprint residue and the cyanoacrylate vapor are not well understood. Cyanoacrylate Fuming Cyanoacrylate esters (generally the methyl or ethyl ester) are colorless, monomeric liquids sold commercially as quick-setting, high-strength adhesives (e.g., Superglue®). These esters polymerize rapidly at ambient temperature via an anionic mechanism in the presence of weak bases such as alcohol and water (Figure 2). 2013-08-05 Cyanoacrylate fuming (often called the super glue method) is a chemical method for the detection of latent fingermarks. Abstract: Cyanoacrylate fuming is a widely used forensic tool for the development of latent fingerprints, however the mechanistic details of the reaction between the fingerprint residue and the cyanoacrylate vapor are not well understood. TopAir's Cyanoacrylate Fuming Chamber is used to develop latent prints from non-porous surfaces in a safe, controlled environment. Cyanoacrylate is placed inside the chamber while evidence is easily positioned using the adjustable hanging rods. Starting the cycle triggers the automatic system to control the hotplate, humidity, door lock, internal circulation fan and purge cycle. The system's The FR600 Laboratory Fuming Chamber was specifically designed to handle large volumes of physical evidence that are of a non-porous nature. The primary purpose of the chamber is for use with most Cyanoacrylate fuming methods.
